‘Lost in Art’ is a supernatural puzzle adventure game developed in collaboration with Walsall-based game developer Daniel Turner, The New Art Gallery Walsall and digital arts organisation The Space. The game is set within a reimagined version of the gallery, combining elements of exploration, storytelling and puzzle-solving.

Inspired by classic survival horror games, ‘Lost in Art’ presents a narrative-driven experience using a stylised, graphic novel-inspired 3D design. The game is set within a fictionalised version of the gallery, where real-world spaces and artworks are incorporated into gameplay.

“ Lost in Art offers an engaging new way for people to experience the gallery and its collections. By bringing together digital technology and visual art, the project allows audiences to explore the building and its artworks from a different perspective.

We are pleased to support a collaboration that also highlights local creative talent. We hope it will encourage new audiences to take an interest in art and discover more about the gallery’s collections. “

Stephen Snoddy, Director of The New Art Gallery Walsall

The game follows Leah, who enters the gallery after hours to view a reportedly cursed artwork, before becoming trapped inside a distorted version of the building. As she navigates the space, she must explore the galleries, solve puzzles and uncover the story behind the artwork in order to escape.

Players can explore a digital recreation of The New Art Gallery Walsall, with recognisable spaces and works from the Garman Ryan Collection incorporated into the experience. Artworks are integrated into the gameplay, forming part of the puzzles and narrative as players progress through the game.

The experience combines exploration, puzzle-solving and storytelling within a reimagined gallery setting, using a stylised visual approach inspired by graphic novels.

Game features include:

  • A puzzle-based exploration experience set within a reimagined gallery environment
  • A stylised visual approach inspired by graphic novels
  • An original soundtrack with retro influences
  • Adjustable difficulty settings for puzzles and gameplay
  • Multiple endings and unlockable content

The games demo will be released during Steam NextFest, taking place from 15 to 21 June 2026. This week-long digital event, hosted on global gaming platform Steam, enables users to explore, download, and experience a wide selection of free demos for forthcoming PC games.

Following its launch, the demo will be available for free download and play.
