The new playground features a variety of equipment designed specifically for infants and junior children, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for kids of all ages. Improvements have also been made to the existing junior play area.

The £100,000 project has been delivered in partnership with Friends of Swannies Field, making use of financial support provided by developers to mitigate the negative impacts of new developments on local communities (Section 106 funding).

The installation includes swings, slides, climbing frames, and interactive play panels, all aimed at promoting physical activity, social interaction, and overall well-being.

“ It was absolutely lovely to formally open this play area.

“I’m almost jealous of the children that will get to enjoy it, it is absolutely fabulous.

“To all locals, please pop down over the upcoming holiday and make use of this facility.

Councillor Louise Harrison, Mayor of Walsall

“ This is a wonderful project that will give our residents a new area to enjoy and be proud of.

“Playgrounds provide an important space for children to develop their social skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities, in addition to the well-known physical benefits.

“I hope people in the area make the most of the equipment, enjoy it, and look after it.

Councillor Gary Flint, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Health & Wellbeing

Residents have expressed their delight at the new addition, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the community. "We're so pleased with the new playground," said a local parent. "It's wonderful to have a safe and fun place for our children to play and make new friends.”

The installation of the new playground at Swannies Field is part of a broader initiative to enhance community spaces and promote healthy lifestyles in Blakenall and Walsall.

An official opening ceremony was held on Thursday, July 17, with the Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Louise Harrison, in attendance to formally open the area.
