New footpaths improve access at Caldmore Community Garden
Published on
Visitors to Caldmore Community Garden are benefiting from new, fully accessible footpaths.
The improvements, carried out by Tarmac, have restored the garden’s paths to a safe condition, making the space more welcoming for all users, particularly wheelchair and pushchair users. The upgraded surfaces also mean rainwater will now run onto the grass instead of flooding the paths during heavy rainfall.
The work builds on the original paths created in 2015, which deteriorated over time, making the upgrade essential for accessibility and safety.
“ Caldmore Community Garden is a much-loved local space, bringing people together and providing opportunities for learning, wellbeing and community activities.
“These new paths make the garden safer and more accessible for everyone. I’d like to thank Tarmac for their excellent community contribution and for working with us to deliver real improvements for local people. “
“ Tarmac have held the Walsall Council's Highways contract since the early 2009.
“We have been associated with working with Caldmore Village Festival Group since 2011 and we are again pleased to be able to assist the local community in projects such as this. It's always a pleasure to work with groups like CVF to make Walsall a better place to live and work. “
“ On behalf of the Caldmore Village Festival Board, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Tarmac for their excellent work in the community. The new footpaths will make life easier for all our users, especially disabled visitors and families with young children.
“We are delighted with the quality of the work and grateful to Walsall Council and Councillor Adrian Andrew for their timely assistance and support. “
Caldmore Community Garden is home to a wide range of community projects, from food growing and environmental activities to family events and learning opportunities. The new paths will ensure the garden remains a safe, inclusive and accessible place for all.
