New charity provides vital care packs to vulnerable Walsall families

A newly established UK charity has donated 50 care packages with essential household supplies to Walsall Council’s Family Hubs to assist vulnerable families experiencing poverty.

Care Packs, a national charity with an extensive network of corporate organisations and leaders, donated the packages, which form Phase 1 of its relief programme targeting childhood poverty, specifically focusing on early years support.
Each care package contains essential items for babies and young children, including baby wipes, nappy sacks, cotton wool pads, shampoo, lotion, nappy rash cream, body wash, and sponges – providing approximately £7.90 worth of basic necessities per pack.
“ We are grateful to Care Packs for this thoughtful donation which will make a real difference to families in our community who are facing financial hardship. We work tirelessly to support vulnerable families, and these care packages will provide immediate practical help with essential baby care items. This partnership demonstrates the power of working together between local authorities and charitable organisations in addressing child poverty and supporting our most vulnerable residents. “
Care Packs was founded in response to the growing poverty crisis in the UK, where 14.5 million people are currently living in poverty, including 4.3 million children. The charity's mission is to provide relief for people experiencing poverty by supplying essentials for everyday living through care packages to individuals, families, and groups in need.
“ We are pleased to partner with Walsall Council to support families who are struggling with the basic necessities for their young children. With the ongoing cost of living crisis and rising child poverty rates, these care packages provide essential items that many families simply cannot afford. This donation represents our commitment to supporting vulnerable families during these challenging times. “
The care packages have been distributed to eligible families through the council’s Family Hubs, which serve as ‘one-stop-shops’ for families with children aged 0-19, or up to 25 years old for those with additional needs.
