Mayor of Walsall sends good luck Message to England Women's Rugby Team

The Mayor of Walsall has extended a good luck message of support to the England Women's Rugby team ahead of their historic World Cup final against Canada on Saturday 27 September 2025 at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium.

The Red Roses have captured the hearts of the nation and a place in the final reflects their success, with all 82,000 tickets sold out, a new record for the biggest crowd in women’s rugby history.

“ On behalf of all the residents of Walsall, I want to extend our deepest gratitude and congratulations to the England Women's Rugby team. You have not only played with incredible skill and determination on the pitch but have also been magnificent ambassadors for the sport.

The atmosphere you have created and the records you have broken are a source of immense pride for us all. We will be cheering you on with all our hearts this Saturday as you take to the field for what promises to be a historic final. Whatever the result, you have already made your mark on history. Good luck, Red Roses! “

Walsall Council will be putting a good luck message on the roadside digital screens in the borough from Saturday morning onwards.

The Red Roses route to the finals began from the opening day of the tournament, when England's match against the United States drew 42,723 people, also setting a record at the time. 

The final will be played at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham this Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 4pm.
