Latest Ofsted report for Walsall primary school says children achieve ‘exceptionally well’

Published on

A Walsall primary school has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for its exceptional achievements.

Reedswood E-ACT

Reedswood E-ACT Primary Academy was described as a ‘nurturing yet ambitious’ school by inspectors following a visit in January 2026. Under the new Ofsted framework, inspectors judged three areas of the school as exceptional, and the remaining four areas as a strong standard:

  • Achievement – exceptional
  • Leadership and governance – exceptional
  • Personal development and wellbeing – exceptional
  • Attendance and behaviour – strong standard
  • Curriculum and teaching – strong standard
  • Early years – strong standard
  • Inclusion – strong standard

The report praised the school for its inclusive ethos where children feel valued, supported and safe. Inspectors noted that the ambitious environment helps children to thrive personally and academically, and children know that their teachers believe in them and want them to exceed. The report details the school’s strong early focus on language enables children - many of whom arrive at school with little or no English - to make rapid progress and become articulate, confident learners who leave exceptionally well prepared for the future with high aspirations and strong academic outcomes.

Maxine Lathbury-Cox, Headteacher, said, “We are incredibly proud of our recent Ofsted report, which truly celebrates all that we stand for at Reedswood. This recognition reflects the dedication, passion and teamwork of our staff, the enthusiasm and achievements of our wonderful children, and the unwavering support of our families and wider community. To receive exceptional gradings in achievement, leadership and governance, and personal development is a testament to the relentless commitment we share to ensuring every child thrives. Our school is built on ambition, care and high expectations, and this report shows the impact of our shared drive to Inspire to Achieve every single day.

“ A huge congratulations to everyone at Reedswood Primary Academy for this brilliant achievement. It’s great to read about their remarkable progress both in terms of attainment, but also on a personal level in terms of personal development and wellbeing.

We want all our children and young people to learn skills for life at school, so they are hopeful and excited for the future and a big well done to the Reedswood team for a fantastic report which sets out how well they are supporting the next generation to thrive. “
