King George V Playing Field is an important community asset in Bloxwich and these improvements will provide modern, accessible facilities that encourage more people to get active, spend time outdoors and take pride in their local area. We’re looking forward to work starting on site in March “
Interclass has extensive experience delivering high-quality public sector projects across the Midlands and will work closely with the council and project partners to ensure the scheme is delivered safely and efficiently.
“ We are delighted to have been appointed by Walsall Council to deliver the improvements to King George V Playing Field. As a local contractor, we are particularly proud to be delivering a scheme that will leave a lasting positive legacy for the Bloxwich community. In addition to constructing the new pavilion and sports facilities, we are committed to delivering meaningful social value throughout the project. This will include engaging with schools and community groups, creating employment and apprenticeship opportunities, supporting local supply chains, and ensuring that wherever possible we reinvest in the local economy “
The new pavilion will replace the existing building and is designed to provide improved amenities for sports teams and visitors, with opportunities for community use and potential income generation to help support the long-term maintenance of the park. An extension to the carpark will help alleviate parking problems in nearby Bealeys Lane and will increase parking to around 140 cars.
Further updates will be shared with residents ahead of construction commencing, including information about site arrangements and any temporary impacts during the works period. The main car park will be closed during the transformation but William Wiggin Avenue parking will remain open.
Completion of the scheme in its entirety is expected to be in spring 2027.
