Fly-tippers caught on CCTV pay the price

Two fly-tippers have been fined after being caught on council-owned CCTV cameras.

CCTV footage of flytiip

The first incident took place on Woodwards Road, Pleck, where an individual was caught disposing of household waste.

Following investigation, a fixed penalty notice (FPN) was issued on 29 January 2026. The offender paid the £400 fine on 11 February 2026.

A further incident on the same road was later caught on CCTV on 7 January 2026, the perpetrator in this instance has been tracked down and issued with an FPN amounting to £400 which must be paid within 14 days. Failure to pay in this timeframe, following a reminder, may result in the case being progressed through court.

“ Fly-tipping is a criminal offence, and we will take action against those who think they can dump waste in our communities. CCTV plays an important role in helping us identify offenders and ensure they are held accountable.

“If you choose to fly-tip in Walsall, you risk a substantial fine or prosecution through the courts. “

Councillor Adam Hicken, Portfolio Holder for Enforcement and Safe Communities at Walsall Council

As part of investment into enforcement action, new CCTV cameras continue to be rolled out across the borough.

Residents are reminded that fly-tipping can be reported online at go.walsall.gov.uk/apply/myaccount-online-services/report-fly-tip or by calling 01922 653355.

Households that require additional bin capacity can apply for a larger bin at https://go.walsall.gov.uk/myaccount-online-services/apply-bigger-bin

All income from Fixed Penalty Notices is reinvested into enforcement activity and environmental services to help keep Walsall clean and safe.
