Explore Walsall's great outdoors with free family activities this summer

Children, young people and families across Walsall are being encouraged to get outdoors and explore the borough's parks and green spaces this summer through a programme of free and low-cost activities delivered by Walsall Council.
Taking place throughout the school holidays, the Walsall Summer Activity Programme offers a range of nature, environmental, health and wellbeing activities at locations across the borough.
Activities include Junior Rangers sessions, family woodland walks, butterfly counts, pond dipping, fishing taster sessions, outdoor art workshops, outdoor fitness sessions and opportunities to try sports including disability cricket, judo and sailing.
“ We are incredibly excited to share this year's programme. Our parks and green spaces are some of Walsall's greatest assets and this programme gives families the opportunity to enjoy them in new and exciting ways.
We want to encourage children and families to get active, spend time outdoors, connect with nature, and discover the fantastic opportunities available within their local communities. “
The programme will take place at parks, green spaces and community venues across the borough, including Walsall Arboretum, Willenhall Memorial Park, Reedswood Park, Palfrey Park and local nature reserves.
Many of the activities have been developed in partnership with local organisations and community groups, helping to provide a varied programme for residents throughout the summer holidays.
Most activities are free to attend, although some sessions require advance booking due to limited spaces.
