Cancer bus tour returns to Walsall town centre
Published on
A bus tour to raise awareness of cancer screening and prevention is returning to the Black Country this September, with Walsall town centre set to host the first stop of the tour.

Organised by NHS Black Country Integrated Care System, the cancer bus tour aims to raise awareness of cancer symptoms, promote NHS cancer screening programmes and encourage healthy lifestyle choices to reduce cancer risk. The bus will make its first stop on Monday 15 September from 10am to 4pm at the top of Park Street (opposite Poundland) in Walsall town centre.
The return of the cancer bus to Walsall reflects the commitment of Walsall Council Public Health and local NHS partners to cancer awareness, prevention, early detection, and support for residents.
Information will be provided on the three main NHS cancer screening programmes: breast, bowel and cervical, explaining when people are invited and what to expect at a screening appointment.
Residents will have the opportunity to speak directly with healthcare professionals about screening, prevention, recognising cancer symptoms, and receiving support. They can also explore informative resources and expert advice on risk factors, lifestyle choices, and the benefits of taking proactive steps to reduce the risk of cancer.
There will also be an opportunity for residents to try interactive body parts to help them check for signs and symptoms of cancer.
“ We are pleased to be able to work with our NHS partners in the Black Country to bring the bus back to Walsall. Early detection and understanding the signs and symptoms of cancer are vital to looking after our health and getting the support and treatment we need. The bus provides a welcoming environment and encourages people to come on board to meet expert staff. Whether it’s learning about screening programmes or simply asking questions, I encourage everyone to stop by and find out more. “
The Cancer Bus Tour will also visit other parts of the Black Country throughout the week:
- Tuesday 16 September from 10am – 4pm - The Fountain, Dudley High Street
- Wednesday 17 September from 10am – 4pm - Queen Square, Wolverhampton
- Thursday 18 September from 10am – 4pm - Outside Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Smethwick High Street
- Friday 19 September from 10am – 4pm - Merry Hill Shopping Centre, Dudley
