A bold vision for the future of the Pavilion at King George V Playing Fields in Bloxwich has been revealed in the latest artist impressions of the site.
Regular visitors to the playing fields will have noticed demolition work start in April, with contractor Interclass clearing the way for major refurbishment.
The work, funded through the Bloxwich Town Deal, will see a café, community event space, toilets, changing facilities with showers and additional parking spaces open for public use in 2027.
“ It’s encouraging to see this vision for King George V Playing Fields progressing. I’m looking forward to seeing the works completed and the pavilion reopened as a welcoming space for the community. These improvements have the potential to enhance the park’s offer and provide opportunities for people to come together, stay active, and enjoy their local area. “
Alongside work to create a welcoming and multi-functional pavilion, the playing fields will benefit from improved sports facilities including a multi-use games area and new 3G football pitch, a walking and running track, and new outdoor gym equipment. Planting, general path maintenance and new seating areas will also spruce up the park.
“ We’re pleased to report excellent progress on site, with the demolition of the existing pavilion now complete, marking a significant milestone and a clear step forward as the project moves into its next phase.
The team is now gearing up for the foundations and main build, with key groundworks and infrastructure well underway across the site. It’s great to see the vision for King George V Playing Fields starting to take shape, and we’re proud to be working closely with Walsall Council and our partners to deliver a high-quality new pavilion for the community. “
