Household waste and recycling centres:

Around 35,000 households will see their bins emptied on a different day to their normal scheduled day over the festive period.

There will be no bin collections on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 December 2025, and Thursday 1 January 2026. Collections due on other days will be made as normal.

Revised dates are as follows:

Fryers Road and Merchants Way Household Waste and Recycling Centres are closed on Christmas Day (25 December), Boxing Day (26 December) and New Year’s Day (1 January).

Leisure centres and facilities:

All Walsall leisure centres are closed on Christmas eve (24 December), Christmas Day (25 December), Boxing Day (26 December) and New Year’s Day (1 January). See individual centres for further details on changes to opening hours on other days. Centres | Walsall Council

Walsall Swim Academy closes for two weeks over Christmas. The last lesson of 2025 is Sunday 21 December 2025, and the first lesson back is Monday 5 January 2026.

Family Hubs:

Walsall Council’s four family hubs – North, South and Central, East and West – will also be closed on some dates during the Christmas break.

Visitor attractions:

Walsall Arboretum Café and visitor centre:

The café and visitor centre will be open every day of the festive period except Christmas Day and Boxing Day (Thursday 25 and Friday 26 December), and New Year’s Day (Thursday 1 January 2026). Please be advised that facilities will not be available for these three dates. Café opening hours are: 9am–3pm.
