Refuge accommodation and support 

A refuge is a safe place for women and children escaping domestic abuse. The address is confidential.

Staff at the refuge will give you the help you need to begin a new life, free from fear and harm. They will help you overcome the effects of abuse with practical and emotional support.

Finding a refuge

If you are in immediate danger, dial 999.

For immediate help you can call Domestic Abuse Walsall Service (DAWS) on 01922 746574.

For immediate support call the Refuge National Domestic Abuse helpline.

To access support 

Black Country Women’s Aid is an independent charity that supports survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. As well as providing refuge accommodation in Sandwell, they can help you to:

  • access the Independent Domestic Violence Advice (IDVA) service
  • find support groups

They also provide support for children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.
