Sexual and reproductive health support

Sexual and reproductive health is an important part of staying healthy. It includes getting advice for contraception and pregnancy, and support with periods and menopause. You can also find support to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV and get cervical screening.

If you live in Walsall, you can get free and confidential advice, testing and treatment.

  • a condom split or came off
  • your contraception didn’t work

Pharmacies

Many pharmacies offer sexual health services. They often have evening or weekend opening hours.

Some pharmacies provide:

  • free emergency contraception
  • free oral contraception (the pill)
  • private and confidential advice

Walsall Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (WiSH)

WiSH provides free, confidential and non-judgemental support.

The service can help with:

  • sexual health advice and support
  • STI testing and treatment, including home testing kits
  • contraception and family planning
  • HIV testing, treatment and prevention
  • emergency contraception
  • pregnancy testing and pregnancy advice
  • LGBTQ+ sexual health support
  • referrals to other services when needed

GP practices

Some GP practices offer contraception and reproductive health services, including coils and implants. Contact your GP practice to find out what’s available.

Support after sexual assault or abuse

If you are in immediate danger, call 999.

If you’ve experienced rape, sexual assault or abuse, you can get confidential support. 

Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) provide medical, practical and emotional support. They do this whether or not you want to contact the police.

Call the adult self-referral line on 0800 970 0375 or email enquiries@horizonsarc.org.uk. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Privacy and confidentiality

Sexual health services are confidential. 

Staff will explain what happens during your appointment and how your information is used. Information will not usually be shared without your permission. If staff are concerned that you or someone else is at risk of harm, they may need to involve another service, but they will discuss this with you first wherever possible.
