Get support from a Small Supports organisation
Who Small Supports are
Small Supports are local organisations who can help you to live at home, if you:
- are aged 16 and above
- have a learning disability and/or autism
- are in a secure hospital, or at risk of hospital admission
What Small Supports will do to help you
They will get to know you, and focus on the things that matter to you. They'll make sure you're at the centre of decision making about your life. They will listen to you, and act quickly if things aren't working out.
They will help you to:
- keep in touch with your friends and family, and make new relationships
- get involved in the community (by volunteering or working)
- find your own home where you feel safe
- work out what money you have to pay your bills, and get the benefits you need
- keep well and stay out of hospital
Your housing and your support will be separate. The Small Supports provider may provide your support, but they will not own the property you live in.
Small Supports can use personal budgets. This means you can get money for your support as a direct payment, an individual service fund or a personal health budget.
