HAF eligibility

Your child may be able to take part in the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme if they:

  • are aged 4 to 17 and
  • live or go to school in Walsall and
  • get Targeted Free School Meals

Learn more about the eligibility criteria in the video below.

Free School Meals and HAF

There are two types of Free School Meals:

  • Targeted Free School Meals: your child is eligible for HAF
  • Expanded Free School Meals: your child is not automatically eligible for HAF

This means getting Free School Meals does not always mean your child can take part in HAF.

If your child has taken part in HAF before

Your child's eligibility may have changed since they last took part in HAF.

If your child gets Targeted Free School Meals, they can take part in HAF.

Check if your child is eligible

You'll be able to check if your child is eligible in our online portal from Monday 9 November. If your child is eligible you can use the portal to register too.

If your child is not eligible

A  small number of places may be available for children with an identified vulnerability or local need. The eligibility check will also consider whether your child meets these criteria.

If HAF is not available to your child, we can help you find other activities and support they may be able to access:

  • other holiday activities and community programmes
  • paid holiday clubs and activities
  • financial and family support
  • other support from Walsall Council and local organisations
